i. To receive the financial statements for the financial year ended December 31, 2015 and the report of the reviewer of finances.

ii. To consider and, if thought fit, to approve the adoption of the financial budget for the period January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016 as presented by the Directors.

iii. To receive the annual reports

iv. To consider items brought forward at the 2015 AGM: membership fees and executive terms of office.

v. To elect the Directors for the forthcoming term.

It's Recruitment Season!

Teams are looking for paddlers and paddlers are looking for teams.  Currently the following teams are looking for paddlers:

Dragon Alliance – Dragon Alliance, a ladies dragon boat team is looking for new members for the 2016 season.  We practice on Tuesday's and Thursday's @ 6:45 and are coached by Louise Meissner.  We are a fun loving group with a competitive edge.  If you would like to join our amazing team contact Gayle at or

Fortified –  a mixed Dragonboat team in the Fort Langley Canoe Club, is recruiting new paddlers for the 2016 season.  Practices until April are held on Sunday mornings or early afternoons, and beginning in April on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30.  The team usually attends about 6 weekend regattas from May until September.

Out team is a motivated group of paddlers who have won Gold in the BC 55+ Games four times.  If you are physically fit and looking for a way to maintain and/or increase your fitness, compete with other Dragonboat teams, have fun with a great social group, and you are born in 1965 or earlier, then we may be the group you are looking for.  Contact Sandy at or Terry at

2017 Sechelt Brigade Proposal

June 22, 2017 - to be confirmed

The Sechelt Brigade will be five days.  The exact location of overnight campsites is yet to determined, the current plan is to paddle from Egmont to Sakinaw Bay , then to  Malaspina Strait,  Thormanby Island & camp in Sechelt overnight, then to Gibsons  to Vancouver via Bowen Island.  A closing ceremony  on the north shore of Burrard Inlet.  This is a Sechelt Canoe Club event but we hope to have FLCC join in the fun.

Notice of Motion

Bylaw Revision Proposal 2016

Be advised that this constitutes the official notice of motion to update the Fort Langley Canoe Club’s Constitution and Bylaws at the upcoming AGM. The FLCC Executive proposes the following revisions, additions and deletions:

Part 2 - Membership
Add: 7. c. The yearly membership fees will include any increase in insurance costs.

Part 7 - Duties of Officers
37. The Commodore (O) is to:
(1) preside at all meetings of the society and of the directors, unless the voting members of the directors otherwise decide
(2) enforce all rules of the club
(3) have general supervision over all matters affecting the club
(4) be a member of all committees

38. The Vice-Commodore (O) must carry out the duties of the Commodore during the Commodore’s absence, and shall perform such duties as delegated by the Board of Directors.
39. The Secretary (E) must do the following:
a) conduct the correspondence of the society;
b) issue notices of meetings of the society and directors;
c) keep minutes of all meetings of the society and directors;
d) have custody of all records and documents of the society except those required to be kept by the treasurer;
e) maintain the register of members, unless otherwise delegated to the membership registrar. 
f) maintain the list of members who have access to any club keys unless otherwise delegated to a maintenance /inventory person.

40. The Treasurer (E) must
(a) keep the financial records, including books of account, necessary to comply with the Society Act, and
(b) render financial statements to the directors, members and others when required.
(c) deposit the funds in the name of the club in such bank or banks or with depository or depositories and in such manner as the Board of Directors may from time to time direct
(d) sign or countersign such instruments as require his signature and perform all duties incident to his office or that are properly required of him by the Board of Directors
