Brigade Days 2015

FLCC is hosting the paddle and re-enactment for Brigade Days on Monday, August 3rd. It is a beautiful way to see the Fraser River. All the voyageurs enjoy the paddle and re-enactment of the arrival of the voyageurs. Participants get into costume and are greeted at Marina Park with the black powder display.  After arrival, all paddlers will parade to the Fort with the bagpiper and dignitaries for the official welcome.  It draws a large crowd of spectators and is a lot of fun.

All members are invited to participate. The transportation fees will be divided by all participants - family and friends may come for the drop-in fee.  We have five boats on trailers so we hope to fill them all.

We will needs some volunteers for both organizing before the event and on the day of event.  If you are interested in paddling or volunteering, please contact Julie at

If there is interest an overnight camp/paddle trip could start Saturday morning in Hope but we need a leader to organize the outing..

Badlands Brigade

Twelve FLCC members are in to Alberta to paddle 329 km July 5 to 11th.  They are joining the annual Voyageur Canoe Brigade trip. This year the trip is on the Red Deer River from Red Deer to Dinosaur Provincial Park.  Our hardy voyageurs will be joining several other teams from across the country, paddling each day between 38 and 66 km (average of 55 km per day).  True to the voyageur spirit they will be camping along the route. Each morning they must strike camp before getting on the water.  Each night they set up camp and prepare meals, though there are a few evenings where special events are planned.  Along the route they expect spectacular scenery through the center of the Alberta Badlands.

We are working on planning an OC1 pool Huli session, if you are interested please reply to . If we have sufficient numbers we will schedule a date. The time will be on a week night around 9 pm as that is when the pool is open for booking.

FLCC's new OC6 made the trip to Ketchikan, Alaska under the paddling power of the Soggy Beavers.  That’s Team Soggy Beavers: Six young, obviously energetic, potentially crazy Canadian guys, who paddled our new OC6 for 750 miles.
