A common denominator brought the Abreast With Fortitude crew together and now many many things keep us together.....the power of the paddle, team spirit, motivation & inspiration all have helped shape our conviction that we can lead extremely full & active lives, get fit and strong and have a ton of fun doing it.

Abreast With Fortitude is one of six crews of Abreast In A Boat (www.abreastinaboat.com), the world’s first breast cancer dragonboat team. Started as an experiment in 1996 by Dr. Don McKenzie of the University of British Columbia to disprove the theory that women who had undergone breast cancer surgery should not do rigorous upper body exercise, Abreast In A Boat has inspired the formation of over 150 breast cancer teams worldwide.
We are proud of our many accomplishments and our name....it not only represents the Fort Langley location where we paddle, but our belief that with grit and determination, we will live long and healthy lives.
We look forward to joining the Fort Langley Canoe Club and will no doubt be tempted to try some other types of paddling and rowing.
