Grant - Community Sport Hero

Following the lighting of the torch for the BC Summer Games, Grant was recognised by Sport BC as one of Langley's five Community Sport Heroes. In the picture above, Grant is receiving his award from the CEO of Sport BC.

The Community Sport Hero Award was created by Sport BC in 2001. These awards recognize coaches, officials, mentors and administrators who have dedicated themselves to grow and develop amateur sport at the community level. The commitment and leadership of Community Sports Heroes have allowed athletes and communities to grow and shape sport in BC and involve others to become involved in sport.

Grant’s tireless dedication to bring a wide range of paddling opportunities to the Langley area is second to none and his contribution to the running of the club is awesome.

Richly deserved, Grant.

History on the Fraser

Introducing an opportunity to paddle AND learn about the history of the Fraser River

We all love paddling on our river. But how many of us know much about what has happened on and around the river during the last 200 years, or so?

This idea – called Voyageur Historians – will provide just that opportunity to learn while paddling.
The idea is that some of our paddlers might like to research an area around our home stretch of the river that they could then highlight during a regular Saturday morning paddle. Read the details

Emails

In 2010, we have re-vamped the way that Emails are sent out, in order to make it simpler for the right people to get the right message.

  1. We know that it seems that EVERYbody gets at least 2 copies. We will improve that.
  2. We know that it seems EVERYbody gets mail that is not relevant to their paddling discipline. We will improve that.
  3. We know that not everyone enjoys dealing with email.
We will try to make emails very easy to understand, by adopting a new style. All emails will be moderated before they are sent.
  4. We are all volunteers. It is only by agreeing to work together towards shared goals, that we can run such a large, successful multi-disciplined club on a voluntary basis.
We do expect you to read all emails sent to you.
